Yesterday was such a fun day! I went hiking in the morning and had my little graduation party in the afternoon. It was awesome to see so many people... friends, friends' parents and grandparents, former teachers. And afterwards, Sarah and I went swimming at this house on Camelback Mountain where you can see all the lights of the city. So that was great. Today I'm going to a bbq of people I don't really know, but hey, why not?

In regards to the car, my mom and I went and test drove a Toyota Corolla and a Honda Civic. I actually liked the Corolla better, even though I was in love with the idea of a Civic. But I'm hoping there will be some nice deals happening around 4th of July weekend when I get back to St. Louis. Anyone (maybe a guy?) want to volunteer to go to the dealership with me? I might have to recruit someone.

I was reading through some old journals from freshman year and even before, and after the ECM Senior night my freshman year, I wrote about how that was going to be me before I knew it and how I'd look back and read the journal and cry about how fast the time had gone. I didn't cry, though. That's just how life is. And it's good. Tonight is my brother and his roommate's birthday dinner that my mom is making for them. Ben turns 20 tomorrow! Yikes!

Last night my mom and I were out driving and we saw this absolutely incredible sunset. It was like one of those Thomas Kinkade paintings, except not cheesy, and very cool because it was right in front of us. If you ever need to see a literal cloud with a silver lining, come to Arizona. I'm kind of sad about leaving next week, but ask me then and I know I'll be glad to be back. Only a few amazing sunsets more!

Hiking, breakfast, book, movie, Thai food, book, phone call, tv, coffee cake, computer. (my day in a nutshell) More later.

Wow, 7 comments... thanks, friends. Some highlights of the week to share:

-I have an excellent new bathing suit that I will wear to Big Surf later today with Sarah.

-Last night I went "salsa dancing" (in quotation marks because I am a HORRIBLE dancer) and danced with this little Mexican dude. I think his name was Geraldo. All in all, it was pretty fun.

-Caroline and her friend Donna are coming through AZ today and staying at my house tonight!

-I talked to Laura online today, and she was very supportive of my writing abilities. Thanks, Laura.

-Movies I still want to see: Harry Potter, Latter Days, The Terminal. My mom bought me A Mighty Wind the other day... whuh haaaappened?

-I got my cartilage piercing changed and it's super cool! Try saying that with a French accent, it's fun I swear. Ben and I were amused by it: "super-cool"

Ok, I guess that's all for now. Everyone have a super-cool day.

Home sweet home. Not quite, because home is sort of St. Louis now, but I'm home in that I am in Arizona. The trip to France was... mostly good. Actually, I'd say it was 60% Okay, 10% Really Good, 10% Good, and 20% Really Bad. Does that add up to 100? It was nice to be in France (obviously) and on the beach (even more obviously). But for those of you who have never met my Dad (that's probably most of you), traveling with him is EXTREMELY stressful and anxiety-producing. By the end of our trip, both Ben and I realized that we were more stressed than when we left. After 3 weeks in France, go figure. So I was kind of negative towards my dad for the first couple of weeks and I rolled my eyes a lot. But then I started feeling sad for him and bad about not being a very loving daughter, and things were actually pretty nice our last couple of days together. Oh, and yesterday I was reading a magazine article about body language and facial expressions which said that eye-rolling is one of the most aggressive non-verbal expressions in existence. So now you know... that's why I don't get angry, it just gets mainstreamed into facial expression.

One exciting thing is that things are seriously coming together for my book-writing trip to begin. I have offers from people all over the country (thanks for publicizing me, Mike!) to stay with them or with suggestions on people I can interview, or places I can look for money. I've spent probably about 3 hours on reading and returning e-mails, and still haven't replied to all of them! Yay!

It's been balmy here-- only 102 or 105 for the next week or so. I don't have too much planned, just movies, shopping, car test-driving (?), and I think a water park excursion on Monday with my friend Sarah. I like our dog much better when I don't see her all that often (and I'm not baking things that she eats off the counter), and my kitties are still super-cute. So all in all, it's great to be home and I'm headed back to "the Lou" on June 30! I miss you all a lot.
